One of the privilege escalation vulnerability arises in the ‘moveItemAtPath’ function of the helper protocol as CleanMyMac X software improperly validates the inputs.
Talos has tested and confirmed that Clean My Mac X, version 4.04 is affected by all of these vulnerabilities. Researchers from Cisco Talos detected 13 privilege escalation vulnerabilities in CleanMyMac X software. The attackers could then modify the file system as root. Researchers recently spotted several privilege escalation vulnerabilities in the software which could allow attackers to gain local access to victims’ machines.
MacPaw’s CleanMyMac X software is a cleanup application used to free up the disk space on users’ machines by scanning for unused and unnecessary files and deleting them.
It caught Mac cleaner pro that I accidentally installed the other day. Other then those suggestions, I can't see to much more which need work. I realize i am only one person, someone else may feel differently. The last thing, I personally wouldn't use dictation. Maybe for instance if it is emptying DNS cash, it could say junk files from your Internet history, or whatever. I realize some of this may be in help and i have not found it.
If there could be a better explanation of the maitenance scripts tasks that would help too. Maybe a scroll area would be a little more helpful that way you don't need to interact with each table while you are doing various tasks. After you select clean for example, then you have another table that is dimmed while scanning. One area that I would like to see improvement is the ways in which you interact with the tables to clean, maitenance, shredder, etc. First off, I have been using clean my Mac for awhile and like it very much.
